The best photographs of a night out are rarely posed. This painting holds on to that kind of moment: the shriek, the laugh, the half-second when nobody is holding back.
A young woman leans toward the viewer, eyes squeezed shut, mouth wide open, hair swinging. Behind her, a haze of festival lights dissolves into soft, smoky strokes. Her skin is painted in warm, creamy pinks that stand out against the dark background.
Sharp detail in the face contrasts with loosely brushed edges, giving the painting a sense of movement. Raw canvas and vertical drips along the bottom finish it with an honest, unpolished edge. It’s a portrait that makes noise.
